The Market, is it really affecting employment opportunities….
March 4th, 2008
Hey Guys,
I’ve chosen the effect of the market on future employment opportunites as my first official blog topic for a couple of reasons. One, in some way, somehow it will effect us all whether it be spending, income or job opportunities and two, I wanted to come across as smart and articulate and get your thoughts on a very trivial topic…
It has been a very contentious issue as things out of our control have affected things within our control i.e. income, spending habits and ultimately employment opportunities. Me being an avid armchair commentator (to gain status within the office…) have been quite informed and the consensus, ”it’s a nervous time…”. As the old saying goes, “When things are good you cruise and when things are bad you work…! ” or words to that effect (quoted from a very close friend of mine…). My ultimate concern would be the amount of social i.e. beer time being affected from this “Nervous time…” I can only imagine what a “nervous time…” would mean for the Warren Buffet’s and Bill Gates’ of the world…. In all seriousness, I must admit to feeling a little nervous when seeing the price of my favourite can of baked beans, coming to work and having to “borrow” my neighbour’s pen… All this, since the downturn, coincidence???
I’m interested to get your thoughts on the direction of the market and how it will affect your personal lives and future opportunities - Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Mon
